Haunted House 2001

Every year for the past five or six years, our friends Karen & Rens build a haunted house in the front yard of their house. This year was the first year that Wayne & I were able to help out and I was just amazed at the amount of planning and work that went into it. The following are some photos from it but, as great as the pictures are, they do not do it justice at all.
Over the course of 4 hours, almost 700 people showed up, 200 more than the year before. We don't know what to expect next year, but I do know that we will definitely be there.

Behind the black walls are 11 different creepy rooms. It takes up the entire front yard and driveway.

Karen gluing eyes to a wall and Rens showing Wayne the guillotine

Turning black plastic walls into stone for the torture chamber.

Notice the "RB" in one of the stones? Wayne's initials are somewhere too. Hey artists always sign their work.

Painting the stones.

Ta-Da!!

Finishing touches for the torture chamber.....nothing like bloody heads on sticks and baskets of body parts to really make a room feel homey.

Building the stocks, trying out the stocks....

And the stocks in their new home.

Boyd working on the laboratory.......

....and the completed lab.

The section of the haunted house that Wayne & I were in. We were upstaged by that fake fire several times.

Wayne all bloodied up...I played the part of the paws that grab for him.

Mike was in a dark room that from the outside looked a bit like a mirror. When people got close, he'd flip on the lights and jump at them.

Connie, AKA crazy lady with the crow(you can't see him in this picture though), was in the very first room. The theme of the room was the DMV. You can just barely see the skeleton of the next guy in line. Now the kids didn't really get the joke, but the adults were cracking up.

Robbie & Gail, the vampire and his victim, were behind one of the doors that turned out to be a fake exit.

A graveyard was behind the other fake exit door.

Wayne & I both had so much fun, we can't wait until next year!!
